Emergency services rushed to the town centre shortly after 8:35pm on Sunday, 30 August, following initial reports that a 30-year-old woman had been stabbed outside The Peacock pub (according to a post made by Northamptonshire Police).
Upon arriving at the scene minutes later, officers discovered two more men suffering from stab wounds, as well as a third man lying unconscious in the road directly opposite the entrance to the Newlands shopping centre.
All four victims were immediately transported to Kettering General Hospital for treatment, with police confirming that one of the injured individuals required overnight surgery.
Following a rapid response, Northamptonshire Police have made four arrests in connection with the incident:
A 24-year-old man from Kettering has been arrested on suspicion of three counts of grievous bodily harm (GBH).
Two men from Kettering, aged 40 and 43, have been arrested on suspicion of affray.
A 31-year-old man from Barton Seagrave has also been arrested on suspicion of affray.
Detectives are currently treating this as a fast-moving investigation and have not ruled out making further arrests as they piece together the events of the busy bank holiday eve.
“This was a very serious incident and a fast-moving investigation is now under way to find out what has happened,"
said Det Insp Wayne Preece of Northamptonshire Police.
“Thankfully, police responded really quickly to this incident and we have made a number of arrests and are not ruling out further ones. Tackling knife crime remains a key priority for this Force and we will relentlessly target those individuals who carry such weapons on our streets."
