The facility will be completely shut from Monday 24 August until Sunday 6 September, with plans to reopen the pool on Monday 7 September, just in time for the new school term and regular swimming lessons.

Contractors have identified a leak associated with pipework located behind the main pool tank. To resolve the issue, teams will need to excavate an area of the poolside to gain access. Because of the heavy construction activity and noise disruption, a full closure of the pool area is legally required to ensure the safety of staff and the public.

While the pool is out of action, North Northamptonshire Council and operators Freedom Leisure are taking the opportunity to upgrade the facility. During the two-week closure, the poolside shower area will undergo a full refurbishment, and deep-cleaning maintenance will be carried out to improve the overall appearance of the centre.

"We understand that the temporary closure will be disappointing for our regular swimmers, clubs and other users, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused,"

said Cllr Brian Benneyworth, Executive Member for Housing, Health and Leisure.

"However, these essential works are necessary to address a leak affecting the main pool tank and to protect the long-term operation of the pool as a safe, welcoming and high-quality environment for everyone who uses it."
