The accessible pitch is the result of a major collaboration between North Northamptonshire Council, Greatwell Homes, who funded the project, and sporting bodies including Premier League Kicks and the Northamptonshire Football Association. The new facility aims to provide a safe, welcoming area for residents to stay active, socialise, and strengthen community ties.

The football pitch is just the first in a series of community-boosting projects planned for the estate over the next four years. It forms part of the wider HemmingWellBeing Programme, a hyper-local initiative backed by The National Lottery Community Fund that has been working for over two years to improve outcomes for local people.

"We're delighted to see this investment being made in the Hemmingwell community and pleased to support the installation of these new football goal posts on our land,"

said Cllr Ken Harrington, North Northamptonshire Council's Executive Member for Assets, Waste and Environmental Services.

"Providing accessible, high-quality spaces where residents can come together, be active and enjoy sport is an important part of creating thriving communities."

The project has been praised as a prime example of what can happen when local organisations pool their resources to directly benefit North Northants residents.

Connie G. Penn, Strategic Lead for the HemmingWellBeing Programme, added:

“It is a delight to see how what began as a simple request to Jo Savage, CEO of Greatwell Homes, for support to provide a free football facility for the community has now been fully realised. This has only been possible because every organisation involved came together - not just to deliver the facility itself, but to work in genuine partnership."
