FOOTBALL Match Preview: Irchester United Vs ON Chenecks

With both sides in very different form at present, this game on paper seems like a mismatch.  This is one of two local derbies on Saturday,the other being Raunds Town against Rothwell Corinthians.We have chosen this encounter at Alfred Street as our game of the weekend.

Irchester United having been well beaten by the leagues in form side on Tuesday night, Royston Town, will be looking to put things right next time out.With this being said it just happens to be against the side currently top of the Spartan South division one table.

It would be some win to beat high flying ON Chenecks, but manager Dan Stewart will demand a reaction from his side after two defeats in a row. He will know better than anyone that his side have it in them to produce a morale boosting performance here and following their promotion last season a confidence boost seems exactly what is needed.

Can the Romans pull off a shock victory against their Northamptonshire rivals and dent there hopes of a top spot finish this season?

Now we turn our attentions to ON Chenecks who have won three games on the bounce and look to make it four on Saturday, with a win that would send them ten points clear of another Northamptonshire side in Moulton.With Moulton now bizarrely not in action in the league again until the 19th of December.

Chenecks are the away team on Saturday and that is something of a rarity over the last few weeks with 7 of their last 10 league games coming at Billing Road. This adds to the game as it will be very interesting to see if they can keep up their fine form on the road. Chens Have scored 14 goals in their last three away games so Irchester will have to put in a big performance to keep them from coming away with the three points.
