Northampton Town will host Kettering Town in the FA Cup for the first time in 35 years.

The competition’s all-time leading goal scorers will be making the short trip to Sixfields between 1st-4th November.

The match is a repeat of the first round Cup tie between the sides that was staged at Rockingham Road in November 1989, which saw the Cobblers win 1-0.

Fabian Forde, Kettering’s director of football, was a guest for the live draw on the night.

“It’s a great one for the fans, I know a lot of them mentioned it on the way up here and they will be buzzing about it.”

The Poppies are enjoying an excellent start to their campaign, sitting in first place of the Southern League Premier Central after a win over Stourbridge on the 22nd of October.

Isiah Noel-Williams, struck in added time to give the Poppies a 2-1 win over National League North side Farsley Celtic in their final qualifying round tie.

“FA Cup, days like this, it’s what you are in it for, it makes it all worthwhile,” said Kettering boss Richard Lavery after Saturday’s win.

Despite the Poppies recent success this season, the Cobblers currently sit fifth from bottom in League One after a disappointing start.
