Northampton Town Women will travel to Shrewsbury for the First Round Proper of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.
The Cobblers Women beat Shifnal Town 4-0 last Saturday in the last qualifying round with goals coming from Jemima Footitt, Fay Noble, Jade Bell and Amber Pearson.
Shrewsbury Town defeated Tier Four side Lincoln United 3-2 and they will be looking to knock out another higher league opponent and advance to Round Two.
Northampton Town Women’s joint-manager Liam Williams praised their team’s professional performance against a side that have not lost a game so far this season.
“We knew it would be a tough game but we won first contacts, we did all the basics really well and they did everything that we asked of them so a big well done to the girls,” said Williams.
The Women’s team will now travel to Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup First round proper and Northampton Town joint-manager Josh Oldfield does not expect an easy game.
“It is obviously a tough draw against a strong opponent, we will have to be at our best for sure,” he said.
However, he believes his team will advance to Round Two of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup Round Two.
“If we perform at the standards we know we can, we will definitely have enough to get us through the tie,” said Oldfield.
The game between Northampton Town Women’s and Shrewsbury Town Women will take place on Sunday 3rd November with a venue still yet to be confirmed.
