Meet Your Cinderella: We Chat with Star Maisie Asbury Ahead of Opening Night

(SPONSORED POST: Lighthouse Theatre, KD Theatre & Ghostlight Creative Media)

The pumpkins are growing, the clock is ticking, and the glass slippers are polished. Pantomime season is officially upon us in Kettering!

This Friday (12th December), the curtain rises on Cinderella at the Lighthouse Theatre, promising a festive season packed with magic, music, and mayhem. For the third consecutive year, NN Media (home of Northants 1, Northants 2, and Northants Rewind) is proud to be the Official Media Partner for the production. To celebrate, we sent presenter Owen Coe to the official launch day to catch up with the cast and get the backstage gossip.

First up in our interview series is the star of the show, Maisie Asbury, who takes on the titular role of Cinderella. Maisie, a graduate of Bird College with credits including The Wizard of Oz and Beauty and the Beast, is no stranger to the stage. However, she told Owen that she plans to bring something fresh to the classic role this year.

“I feel like it’s important to honour the traditional character, but it can be fun to sometimes inject some 21st-century fun when bringing her to life,” Maisie explained.

“What I love most about her is that while she’s gentle, she’s never weak. She believes in goodness and love even when life’s unfair, and I think that’s something everyone can connect with.”

Watch the Exclusive Interview

You can watch Owen’s full conversation with Maisie below. They discuss the physical demands of a two-show-a-day schedule, the magic of pantomime for young children, and exactly what audiences can expect from KD Theatre Productions this year.

About The Production

Maisie is joined on stage by a stellar cast, including Pantomime Hall of Fame inductee Sean ‘Rollo’ Rollason as Buttons, and Kettering’s own Jessie Waterfield as the Fairy Godmother.

The show runs from Friday 12th December until Wednesday 31st December 2025 and promises spectacular scenery, dazzling costumes, and plenty of audience participation.
